I was fortunate to have been part of the Sky&Telescope Iceland trip a few weeks ago. Also fortunate to get a break in the clouds on the evening of 19 October. The Lutheran Church in the second image is a genuine Icelandic church...I "nudged" it about 85 kilometers to see how it might look in this composition. I'm developing a 64 degree north latitude attitude!
Stunning shots with or without the nudge!
Breathtaking images! I think this is the first time I've seen aurora photos that included clouds lit by city lights.
Nice shot of the Big Dipper in the first photo!
Beautifully done, thanks for sharing them
All in all the composition and clarity of the first shot is my favorite.
Nicely done.

Thank you for posting these great shots Awol.
Look forward to more of your work.

Thank you to all who responded. If you are a night sky freak, you should add someplace at least 60 degrees north to your bucket list and experience the Northern Lights in person. Pack a tripod and a fast wide angle lens and aim North. When you see stars, start shooting, you'll see Aurora.

So beautiful. I'll add Iceland to my bucket list.
