I think the OP is really saying that she was asked to do the shoot and then asked to do it for nothing. There is a fine line between donating and volunteering, but there is a line. It sounds like it wasn't her idea in the first place and, though she did it out of the goodness of her own heart, she still had hopes for some recognition. I can understand that state of mind. To be asked for something, then to be told she's giving it for free, and then to sacrifice her time and talent (possibly for a cause in which she had no personal interest) AND then to be denied recognition and be tread shabbily is an insult. It is not personal pride and profit; it is about hurt and betrayal!
I think the OP is really saying that she was asked... (show quote)

I looked up the definition of Volunteer, and it stated "a person who performs a service willingly and without pay". The OP stated "i was asked to volunteer my time to photograph a fund raising event. Then I looked up "donate" Here is what I found,"
verb (used with object), donated, donating.
1.
to present as a gift, grant, or contribution; make a donation of, as to a fund or cause:
to donate used clothes to the Salvation Army.
verb (used without object), donated, donating.
2.
to make a gift, grant, or contribution of something; give; contribute:
They donate to the Red Cross every year.

It was her "feeling" that she was to be the "designated photographer", she states; "i feel i was asked to be the designated photographer, he was a guest. I am a little unclear about here understanding of her status.

I wonder if this unscrupulous committee has not been honest to tell the OP that they agreed to having him take photos at the event too. Obviously, it was the first time for the OP and maybe the committee couldn't say no, or used him as a backup. Maybe the committee liked his shots better and chose them instead of hers? You never know what politics play in decisions. Personally If I volunteer or donate my photography, it is with the understanding I am contributing not looking for a pat on the back. But that is me.

*Basically the same for me. It'd be nice to get some kind of approval but I don't expect it.

I would rather keep quiet and keep low. For whatever reason the people wanted his pictures then there is not much you can say.

I don't agree at all. She should, and we all should, stand up for what is obviously right... How do you think our country has gotten this far "DOWN"??? People NOT standing up for RIGHT!!!

I think in this new and very different world even in the US I use my international traveling strategy. Always act with a thoughtful
calm and inquisitive attitude. Forgive others and focus on my work and outcome. Bureaucracy is a sadness today. Rudeness, the lack of civility in our society just look at our politics. Toxic decisions and the people who made them can make us toxic ourselves. A polite note of inquiry might work in this case. I did a funding video for an autustic school for children. It was very impactful making people cry in the first 15 seconds. Another fancier school wanted me to do a video for them. We met and I believed we were ready to go. Bought some additional stuff to work with and asked for a small amount of cover expenses.
We had shooting dates approaching and didn't hear from them.
Finally they called and said they were going with a relative of one of the school leaders. I thought about the autistic kids I had worked with and sent them an email wishing them luck.
