Hi
I am from Pennsylvania. I have a Nikon D300 and just love it.
I think I will be 80 something , before I come close to figuring this camera out.
This is the first forum that I have tried to participate in.
I love looking at everyone's pictures.
Every day is a picture perfect day
Keep it going Katsaclicken. The more you practice the more you learn, and also learn by your mistakes.
Welcome to the forum, Katsaclikin. Know how you feel about that D300. I have the D200 and I'm still finding out things about it. Only wish I had waited a few months and got the 300. I find the 200 not so great in long exposure night shots - very noisy. I understand the D300 performs generally much better in low light. Not sure if they fixed the issue I see or not though.
Cute shot you used for your avatar!

Welcome katsaclickin! Have you ever photographed in Tyler State Park?
Welcome. One nice thing about digital is that you can take as many pictures as you want, see what works and doesn't work, and keep adjusting and playing. The ultimate "instant gratification." The only advice I can give you is don't give up, don't get frustrated, and don't try to learn everything at once. When I got my Sony A200 it was just before a trip to Utah. I hadn't had enough time to get comfortable with it, and was afraid to take it off the Auto setting. I used my backup Kodak Z series camera because I was comfortable with how that one worked. When I got back from my trip, my pictures were OK, but I knew I could have done better, so took the Sony manual, and worked my way through it, taking one thing at a time and practicing it for a week or two before moving on. That worked for me, and I was able to build up confidence and knowledge without skipping around learning things willy-nilly. Give yourself time, don't expect too much right away, and just have fun. Anyway, would love to see some of your pictures when you care to share.
