True Neutral Density Filters for Digital

I have worked with NDs and long exposures for the last five months and seem to get a "reddish" contamination the longer the exposure. Information on photo sites claim that this is common due to cumulative Infa-Red exposure with long shutter times. One filter that I use, a 10 stopper, gives a bluish tint almost like UV contamination. That is my Hi Tech "Big Stopper", I read that the tint also occurs on the Lee "Big Stopper". My question is this, does anyone have experience with long exposures through NDs without color contamination on their shots? And what brand filter are you using? I have had many opinions on this question but what I need is actual results from someone who has done these long exposure shots with NDs. Thanks for any input.

I have a V-ND and it has a blueish cast with long exposures or shooting very high light source, I took some pics of the sun, did not turn out too good, but had that blue tint.

I use a B+W 10 stop. It gives off a warmer tone then I would get without it. I just set my Wb to cool it down and get great results.

Try taking a few shots with your White balance set to tungsten. You need to cool your WB some to lose the reddish tones. Also cover your viewfinder, could be your getting light leak through it.

I shoot monochrone images with a B&W 10Xand have not noticed the problem. In fact, I added a blue tint to my last capture in LR3.

Hi,
I have used a 6 stop b+w nd. I don't seem to have this problem. not to say that someday it might show up but until now, it hasn't.
