I got an eyecup. Cheap and effective solution.

I've seen an eyecup mentioned several times and I may look into one of those. Thanks!

Here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/HOODMAN-Hoodeye-Eyecup-GLASSES-Heyec22-Eyecup-Canon-7D-1D-1Ds-M-III-IV-/120892842483?pt=US_Viewfinders_Eyecups&hash=item1c25c661f3

I bought the Hoodman with the smaller cup, and later replaced it with the larger cup. They do sell the combo for your camera, or if you already have the hoodman they sell the small or large rubber piece separately for less money.

Jimmya, there in lies the problem is not using autofocus. I apparently can't tell if I am in focus or it is as focused as I generally see things. In a photo I can tell if it is not in focus but in the camera I have trouble. I'll use autofocus for a while until I come up with a better solution. This glasses are 4 months old and done by a very reputable company. I may go back and have them checked though. Thanks.

I'm in Veralux and I've learned, I guess, how to use them with my view finder.

I usually can't see the edges so I have to move my eye around to look for what's in the frame and what's not but it works.

Yes I use auto focus all the time and have learned to trust it. The only time I use manual focus is with video and then I've purchased a view finder for my camera and I have to change glasses to use it but hey, it works for me.

If you are interested in a view finder for video here's the link.

I saw someone refer to the "granny chain". I didn't know what that was, but figured out that I use one. I just never called it that. I call it "that string that holds my glasses on around my neck when I don't want to wear them."

I have been having trouble going manual with the fact that my shots don't seem focused. I have bifocals and now I wonder if I am looking through the proper place in the lens of my glasses to see the shot through the eyepiece of the camera. Is this possible?

I wear bifocals and quickly learned to look through the top part of the lens-the part for distance view. Have no problem using a viewfinder because it's what I grew up using.

Maybe it's just me then. My eyes are pretty bad and I have difficulty setting the optical to be clear. It's always dark and slightly out of focus on every camera I've ever tried. With the larger, brighter LCD my eyes are better able to process.

Do you know about setting the diopter control for your viewfinder? Read the manual if necessary. Set the diopter control while looking through the distance part of your eyeglasses. See the viewfinder image sharply, and use that setting with glasses for shooting.

I wear glasses but I don't use the LCD----the optical creates an intimacy with the subject I like.

My camera (Sony a390) has a diopter that solves the focus problem.
