I have had this male Cardinal dive bombing my windows daily for the last 11 months. He starts at first light and ends at night, even later. He only uses three windows to bump. I have never seen the crest usually associated with Cardinals. He sometimes will rest on my window a/c.

He sees his reflection and may not like another male Cardinal in his territory. If he saw a female he's puff that crest up to show off for her.

I would think that would be a seasonal thing. Also I haven't cleaned those windows that he hits and 1 is quite smeared where he flies into it.

We have one that breaks car mirrors. He will land on the weather strip of a car window, cock his head back and forth a few times, and then crash head first into the mirror untill his "rival" is no longer a threat. We have to tell visiters to fold their mirrors in.
