And to think we worried about the prices leaving us short of money on our CA to FL and back honeymoon in Dec 73-Jan 74. Along I-10 we paid 60 cents and up at times.
Even worse, my senior year in high school with my first car I sometimes paid over 20 cents a gallon for premium. But during "gas wars" I often got premium for 12 and 13 cents.
I remember gas around 12 cents/gal. Probably late '40's, PA. By the time I could drive the price went up.
As I recall, when we drove to Alaska in '66 the highest price was a shocking 76 cents/gal. Fortunately that was in Canada, so it was an imperial gallon.
