Ink Refills
Has anyone tried Costco to refill their ink cartridges. The price seems to be very good, however I have not heard anything about the quality of the prints with their refills...........Mike
sorry no. I will only use Canon inks.

I use non named refillsd cartridges. The advice given was to change ALL tanks and see if you like the results. DO NOT mix and match manufactureers and non generic.I would go with a refill not a cheap replacement as sometimes you need to alter the cartridge default settings and a refill shop will tell you how (I did it a long time ago so no help there)
I do not calibrate anything so I test print and then alter image to get the best print in just the same way that you need to change your images to suit an on-line print shop.
I use a Canon a3 printer Canon a4 printer and a Canon laser all using refills. (Cartridge World) I use there paper or Staples depending on price offers too!
Not casco but hope this helps
Is your printer dye, or pigment based?
Pretty sure anything from the box store, is going to be dye based?

I bought a "new" Canon labeled refill at Fry's. I was suspicious because the bottom of the box was folded and glued poorly, but I used it. It was a counterfeit refill that lasted a week. When I replaced it with a new cartridge from Staples, it took 12 pages of cleaning to clean the printer. I have used Staples brand refills, but know, in one case, when one of their refills broke inside a printer, they gave the owner a new printer! Now that's service; almost as good (if not AS good) as B&H or Adorama.

I use a contraflow system for my printer, all you have to do is top it up with inks, it takes six inks that i buy off ebay, i get six 100ml bottles for about £11.00, its the cheapest way to print.
I've used Costco many times to refill ink cartridges for my HP printer. Costco does an excellent job but I find the following problems with using refilled cartridges:
A: HP printers do not want to recognize refilled cartridges when they are first inserted. To solve this problem, many times you have to go to a web site (Costco will give you the address) and look up what code to put into the printer to enable it to recognize the refilled cartridges.
B: If you refill cartridges make sure you wait until you need a new one as the refilled ones won't last sitting in the drawer, not being used, for more than 4-6 weeks because they are not sealed as well as new cartridge.
C: My experience is to only figure on one refill per cartridge as after that it seems to me to be labor intensive to make the refilled ones work. I buy new ones then.
D: Because Costco charges 10.00 per/refill I save 20-30.00 over the price of buying new each time.

I've given up on non-OEM inks. Sometimes they're okay, and sometimes they aren't. "Aren't" is very bad.
I'd stick with OEM inks. Not only can refilled inks cause problems as mentioned above, even if you find one you like, you don't know that they won't change suppliers at one point and throw everything out of whack with you printer and printing.
IMO, just isn't worth messing with.
I have used the Costco inks as well as their paper and for printing the basics like family gatherings, etc. they are fine. If you are looking to print art photos, then stick with the name brands and best to use a newly opened cartridge for the best quality. The problem with any refilled cartridge is that the nozzles will and do clog.

I use third party inks from Ink Farm. I save about $50 a set. I figure if I go thru 3 sets I just paid for a new printer. If any thing fails. PS I only print for myself. If I were selling my work I would only use OEM inks
I've used Costco refills with good results. They will refill a cartridge only
once if it has not previously been refilled. Price is right.

Try LD Products. I have used these in past and still do. They work fine, but the HP printer will tell you "non HP cartridge installed", but still shows as new cartridge.

I use inks from inksupply.com and I have used both their dye and pigmented inks. I currently use them in my Canon Pro 900 Mark II and after 4 years I have had no problems.
