Bet you had to be fast. You can see the reflection caused by the smooth wood and your speedlite. Needs to go. Shoot at a greater angle from reflective surfaces, put a diffuser of some sort in front of the light, etc. Good looking grandson. Enjoy. djt

I would bounce the speed light off of the ceiling. It would soften the light that way.

That 3rd pic reminds me of what I was told by a guy that works with me. He is Spanish and he said that one of their customs is to have a big birthday cake for all the guests and then one small cake for the birthday child and just let that child go to town on it. This was as he was showing me a video from his daughter's 2nd birthday on his phone. Cute grandson and he looks like he was lovin' it!!
