I'm aware there a many programs available to open and process Nikon D810 RAW (NEF) files. Which do you use please?

Thanks in advance

I have LR6 and it does it but, I prefer ACR in PS.

Also, I have an old free program (FastStone Image Viewer 5.5) that does a darn decent job processing the 810 NEF files. It's a bit slow to load them but, what do you want for free? :-). I do still use it for viewing images from my external HD.

No, I don't own an 810 but I have talked to some wedding shooters that love Capture One Pro.

Well that depends. I always start in LR. Frequently I go to PS. However, I am thinking that I might try using LR only as a library and editing in PS as a Smart Object so I can return to ACR again and again if necessary.

I use DXO and then maybe Nik. Although DXO is not too quick if you use the prime noise reduction it has some good features for me.

Ditto. I got Capture One Pro (Sony) free with my A7II and liked it so much I bought the full version so I could use it with my NEF files.

I will no longer waste my money on any Adobe products.

When I first got my 810 I was using Photoshop 5.1, which wouldn't read the 810 raw files, so I went to Adobe's DNG Converter. Recently, I upgraded to Photoshop CC, so I just open the files in Photoshop.

Darktable. Rawtherapee and UFRaw are also good.

I have a D800, essentially the same camera, and my Workflow usually starts out in Photoshop, and with a RAW image file it takes you first to ACR. After making any changes you may want to perform, you click save.

After saving, you click on Open and it takes you into Photoshop. Actually, it is very simple after you do it once (maybe twice if you are not familiar with computers/image processing programs). If you have any questions, feel free to contact me via a PM (Private Message) from UHH.

Best Regards,
Tom
