Couple of shots from this week. What do you think?
You probably should have posted these to the Photo Critique forum or the For Your Consideration forum. I suspect Admin will move them to one or another later.
Wrong forum and duplicate post.
Sorry, problems on my end loading pix!

You know you could actually get two excellent shots out of that one. Basically just crop right across the top edge of the rocks and water. Actually as is it is a bit much, almost too much going on.

Ooow. I like that second one as is. Top one still looks like (begging) two views to me. That second one is truly beautiful and impressive.
Just a couple of quick thoughts:
1. Beautiful subject. :)
2. in #1 you could have zoomed a bit tighter and moved the mill farther to the right in the frame. in #2 you might consider moving the mill out of the center of the frame.
3. on both you might also consider lifting the shadows in the rocks. My eye/mind wants to see the texture in the rocks.

I might have cropped in some more as well.

What you didn't like the comments on your other post with the same shots???
Your 2nd one is very good but the mill should be off center
to the right.
#1 is the best D3100 shot i've seen posted.

A problem (imho) many photographers have is trying to say (show) too much in one image or shot. When there is too much going on your eyes don't know where to go. Say in your second image it works better for me because ones eye follow the water, water falls, and rocks from the bottom left to the building and the trees in the upper right. In the first image I find my eyes trying to discern the subject or subjects.
I played around with your first image a bit and found two cropped areas that I found most interesting and make photos themselves apart from the initial full image. If you would like to see them let my know as a reply here on the thread that it is OK for me to post my version of your photograph. That is kinda the protocol here on the UHH.
Would like to see your ideas, thanks
