I just saw that the Canon Pixma Pro 100 is being offered by Adorama for $299, with a $250 mail in rebate from Canon. I figure if I 'charge' it I can wait for the rebate.
But more importantly, what's the scoop on this printer? I have read a lot about it and it does get some great reviews. I already have a Canon printer/scanner, but nowhere near the quality of this one. Mine is a 5 cartridge, this is a 7 I believe. I am mainly interested in printing B&W.
thanks
The Canon PIXMA Pro-100 is a very popular printer, with eight (8) separate color cartridges. Your price is an excellent buy.

The Pro-100 is $399 before rebate at B&H and Adorama. There are 8 cartridges. I'm very pleased with mine.

It is an 8 cartridge printer using black, photo black, and photo grey. Will do a great job on black and white as it does color.

Not quite right.
Eight cartridges, yes, including standard black, yellow, magenta, and cyan, as well as light gray, dark gray, photo magenta, and photo cyan.
OM replacement cartridges
3rd Party replacement cartridges
Thanks for the replies.
How expensive are the ink cartidges and do they last?
That black cartridge looks awfully small for all the work it might have to do for b&w images, not to mention the occasional document.

I use an inexpensive standard 8.5x11-inch color printer for all of my document printing, which is extensive (product labels, technical data sheets, Safety Data sheets, invoicing, etc).
Thanks, I do know Google (and Bing) are my friends. And I did use them before this post and often. However, I thought one of the purposes of this forum was for us to share 'personal' recommendations and insights.
Many of the ratings on websites of products (as reported recently in the news) can't always be trusted.
I was merely asking hogs here to let me know what their experiences have been and perhaps they may have some suppliers of cartridges that they recommend.

This subject has been discussed on the

This is a great buy. I placed an order and hope it is not over sold.

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/This is the only web address you'll ever need! Printers are under "Computers." B&H prices are normally about the same as Adorama. The 8-Pack of ink is $105.90.
I bought one on the rebate. Of course, my rebate went missing in the mail. They are supposedly sending me a replacement, but still not here yet. So we shall see if I got a $50 printer or a $300 printer.
By the way, the rebate is for purchase of a printer and paper. You should get the offer for free paper with the printer. Just be sure you do.
As far as quality, I've run a few prints through it, like the results. Have to brighten my images for printing.
Replacement ink is very expensive. I plan to buy another OEM cartridge set and then try refills.
The ink is not archival, so don't expect these prints to last. For me, printing just takes me back to my film days (before computers) so I can throw a few things on the wall and appreciate my own work. Who needs an audience?
