I have an Olympus EM10 with WiFi, I can use all the wifi applications such as Remote Control, Import Photos, Edit Photos and Add Geotag but when I activate the Wifi on the camera I cannot use the camera normally to take a photo, I simply cannot get past the QR code, all the buttons are inactive except for the "Menu" button which when pressed switches the wifi off.
I can these use the camera normally but without Wifi.
Am I doing something wrong or is that as it should be ?

Unless you use a smartphone to convey to the camera when to take a photo, I believe this is the way it is. Page 107 - 110 deals with Wi-Fi, but from I can see, only for photos you've already taken, or that you want to take using your smartphone.

I've tried the Wi-Fi on my E-M1, found it confusing. When I sorted it out, I found it very slow. Back to the "old" method of popping out the SC card and popping it into the SD-slot on the computer to download.

Hi, I've been using my WiFi on my new Olympus E-M1 for about two months now. It was easy to link to my iPad using the instructions in the Darrell Young manual. Transferring images (only the jpegs) from the camera to my iPad is very easy and relatively rapid. I move my RAW files to my iMac by removing the SD card from the camera and inserting it into my computer. I can control the camera easily using the camera control feature. This is very convenient for taking hummingbird photos with the E-M1 mounted on my tripod. The camera controls are fast and responsive and I love the live view. I have not yet tried Geotagging.

My only real concern is my inability to link both my iPad and iPhone to the camera (I know I CANNOT connect both at the same time.) What I want to do is be able to connect my iPad when I have it with me or connect my iPhone when I forget to take my iPad with me. Every time I try to connect a second iOS device the previously connected device loses it identity link. I've asked around on other blogs and other uses and have not found a way around this problem. Perhaps I am missing something. ?? Earl

I have the same Olympus EM 10, and find the wifi not worth the bother. (My phone is a Blackberry, which may explain part of my comment.) Uploading from memory card to PC is quicker and easier the old-fashioned way: pop the card into a USB cabled reader.

Wish I could use my phone as a remote (sigh), but I'm a Blackberry Loyalist.

I have an EM10 and I do enjoy using the WiFi function with both my Ipod and Ipad. I think your problem may have to do with the option to use a "one time transfer" vice a "private" transfer to a device. To date I have not used that option (one time) and both my Ipad and Ipod are recognized by the EM10 after selecting the EM10 as the WiFi source. See section 8, page 109 of your manual. Good luck
