Unless you use a smartphone to convey to the camera when to take a photo, I believe this is the way it is. Page 107 - 110 deals with Wi-Fi, but from I can see, only for photos you've already taken, or that you want to take using your smartphone.
I've tried the Wi-Fi on my E-M1, found it confusing. When I sorted it out, I found it very slow. Back to the "old" method of popping out the SC card and popping it into the SD-slot on the computer to download.
Hi, I've been using my WiFi on my new Olympus E-M1 for about two months now. It was easy to link to my iPad using the instructions in the Darrell Young manual. Transferring images (only the jpegs) from the camera to my iPad is very easy and relatively rapid. I move my RAW files to my iMac by removing the SD card from the camera and inserting it into my computer. I can control the camera easily using the camera control feature. This is very convenient for taking hummingbird photos with the E-M1 mounted on my tripod. The camera controls are fast and responsive and I love the live view. I have not yet tried Geotagging.
My only real concern is my inability to link both my iPad and iPhone to the camera (I know I CANNOT connect both at the same time.) What I want to do is be able to connect my iPad when I have it with me or connect my iPhone when I forget to take my iPad with me. Every time I try to connect a second iOS device the previously connected device loses it identity link. I've asked around on other blogs and other uses and have not found a way around this problem. Perhaps I am missing something. ?? Earl
