Treated this with "Effects 8" want to give a printed copy to the wagon owner ...this just ain't the same as a darkroom black and white ...
You might also want to do it in color and maybe sepia then see which one the owner likes best.

GW, the picture looks good to me, I like it. Tejaswrangler :)
This is nice, but I think a sepia tone might be better.

Nope, it sure "ain't" Seems like everyone gets so freaked out by noise which looks like grain. If you were doing film, there would be grain. Add grain or noise, that's why that feature is in most PP software. Embrace the grain if you want it to look like a "real" black and white.
Also, it looks really nice on the main screen, but it is pretty heavy in the PP when downloaded. If you blow it up much past 8x10, you might want to back off on the (what looks like) Topaz simplify. That would also help make it look more like a real black and white.
Please don't get me wrong. I like the image. If you are going for a film look, you kind of need to go with what was available in the darkroom. If you want a neat artistic look, then leave it as it is.
I like it as it is, but would probably also like it if it looked more like a true darkroom image as well. I would just have to see both versions to know for sure.
