I don't know what the problem could be , it's displaying a notice that it's unable to connect to camera. Any ideas to remedy this? I had battery tested, cig. lighter adapter and cord tested. It's not getting power to the camera, it just will not fire up. I'm at a loss struggling the whole time trying this and that checking cords contacts unplugging and replugging the camera and nothing. My computer says the rs232 is working properly , heck I even switched my other rs232 serial to usb and still nothing. I went thru and checked all my info and reinputted it still nothing. Help I'm running out of good nights.

For a few things that I might try, first if your your camera has worked before with the same computer you're using you might try to restore it back to a previous time when you are fairly sure it was working. If this does not work or is not an option you could always try for that device. Maybe try it on a different computer.

This hobby was easy a lot more people would do it, no understand this is kind of sad tongue-in-cheek because even though there would be more people to help and offer suggestions that in turn means that it is easy and you probably would need the help in the first place. Either way I guess it's better than a sharp stick in the eye. Lol

As they say if at first you don't succeed

Don't try skydiving,

Did you follow the installation instructions to the "T", dot, and i?
I ask this because sometimes if a device (in this case your CCD) has to have the drivers installed first, before the camera is ever plugged in.
I believe it has to do with the computer being used as seeing the device (CCD), and attempting to find drivers for it.
Then after the specific drivers are installed the computer doesn't know which to use and stalls, or loops and cannot recognize the device.
I would back up and uninstall the ccd and any drivers that may have been installed for it. Then reinstall it.
See your Control Panel.

Also, what Matthew said.

I find that the software, and sometimes the hardware, used in this end of the hobby sometimes leaves a bit to be desired. While a lot of Plug-and-play items work fine that way, there are still some items that are definitely plug and pray.

For example, Celstron supplies a RS232 to Serial cable for their mounts (the AVX anyway). Almost no newer computers have Serial plugs anymore. So they supplied me with an adaptor cable.
A simple Serial/USB adapter for my mount to had to have the driver software installed, before ever connecting the USB to Serial cable. So I followed the instructions closely, and crossed my fingers, and it worked.
But who would think a simple adapter would need a software installation just to connect the thing?

Back up and try again. Or even restore to an earlier time, as Matthew suggested.
Then start the installation again.
Of course, there may be a help or support line you could contact.

Mathew and sonnyE , I had 3 nights when everything was peaches n cream with the camera being recognized . My alignment wasn't as good 30'-40's away from Polaris as I have had it lately in the single digits. I use it in xp mode and it works ok , 60% of the time I'm so aggrevated that I just work on tracking and view . I've reinstalled the drivers , checked all my info and put it in again , Nothing ! still can't be recognised by my A-S-S. It used to arc when the clamp on the powercord connected to the battery, now nothing! I've sent a message to my buddy who's camera it was and he's says that it might be that there's got to be buildup "GUNK" on the powercord contacts from all the stuff in the air . How would a disabled person clean off the gunk using one hand? A lil' food for thought. Thanks Buds, I'll go through everything again making sure I leave no rock unturned. Mathew , I'll restore to a previous restore point and see if that works Good advice , Why didn't I think of that? SonnyE , I've got 3 usb to serial adapters ATEN and they came with drivers disc. My CNA does my installing , I just mess things up. Still making that continueous right turn

It's really hard, if not next to impossible, to try and troubleshoot stuff like this over the web.
Keep working at it and suddenly it will sputter to working, and leave you scratching your head.
Good luck, and hopefully the bud can help you get it working reliably.

This is the reason I've had it so long and I only get it working every once and a while. I like my plug n play devices . Plug and go Thanks SB
