The weather has been very cloudy and wet lately so I haven't had a chance to do any Moon shots...
I dug into my archives and came up with a Moon closeup that I took about a year ago...
this image was previously posted but this photo has been enlarged more than it's previous posting...

The Moon shot was taken with my Canon 60D using my Tamron 150-600mm lens with two teleconverters attached...
I'll also included a photo of my camera setup that I use when photographing the Moon...

Great moon shots, thanks for posting, l always enjoy anything about space.

What is the blue thing on top of your camera, and what do you use it for.

Thanks again

I love your use of the red dot finder, very useful in nature photography. I use something similar at times. Couple of questions, are these single images or stacks of images or video? I am not a Canon guy and am unfamiliar with their models, is the 60D FF or APC? Are the two TCs used Kenko 1.4 and the 2x?

Great Images by the way, I still love shooting the moon, though I don't admit it too often. A great thing you could do is label some of the major craters you captured.

Thanks WALT... much appreciated....

The blue thing attached to my camera's hot shoe is a "Red Dot Reflex Aim Sight" which is primarily used as a wide field weapon aim sight... it has a camera adapter attached to it and it is generally used for tracking and photographing birds in flight.... it makes it much easier for me to track and keep the Moon centered in my live view when photographing the Moon...

Very well done Bruce, I took one last night too.
But I don't think it can compete with this.

Thanks Oknoder... much appreciated...

They are single images with post processing... the Canon 60d is a APC sensor with a crop factor of 1.6x... and yes I used the Kenko 1.4x and the 2.0x piggybacked together...

it wasn't too shabby coming from an old outdated Canon...
and from a relatively inexpensive 150-600mm Tamron lens...
and a little post processing...

Well you inspired me. I drug the 8 Inch out two nights ago (last good night of seeing) for a go at M33.....while imaging I kept looking at the moon and thinking, crap, I need to see if I can get a good moon surface shot like yours. But, I did managed to get a good polar alignment using software I forget I have called "Alignmaster" and my guiding was working to perfection so I kept imaging M33. I hope I got some good data haven't had time to work on it yet...... but I do plan to chase the moon on a "clear sky" night asap!
