Interesting - I always thought it was the one on the Flinstones with the woodpecker slamming it out.

Yeah we talked about this when we heard about the whole bankruptcy issue with Kodak. It is really sad to say that the leader of getting cameras out to the masses has gone by the way side. It is even sadder that after inventing the first digital camera they would let themselves be beat to the digital market thus causing the whole spiral downward into backruptcy.

Interesting article by the way. I knew Kodak had created the first digital, but I had never heard of all of the components it took to create it.

My first digital was a Kodak DC40. It took FOREVER to download the images to the computer. It looked more like videos cameras I have seen. Came with a nice hand strap though.

Unfortunately Kodak had a history of bringing a product to market but not backing it long enough to let it develop its market, and/or sitting on a product while competitors improved on it and went to market.

Kodak Caveman: I've invented this round thing I call a "wheel". Come over and sit down on it for a while.

LOL, I just hope he found that wheel comfy. I do see what you are saying about it though.

I remember paying 300 dollars for a camera that took 640 x 480. We've come a long way.

I bought a Kodak digital camera in 1995 for $5,300. It had a whopping one megapixel. It finally gave up the ghost in 2003. I took it in to the camera shop and they wanted to charge me $250 just for analyzing what was wrong. Sitting there on the camera were new digital cameras by HP, GE, Samsung, Sony, Canon, Nikon, and even Kodak, all for $299 or less. I bought the HP because it had the most megapixels out of those on display and in stock.

The thing to remember about Kodak's bankruptcy is that it a restructuring not a disappearance. What they will look like when they come out of the bankruptcy is anyone's guess.

I have no idea since it gave up the ghost nine years ago. The camera is probably around here somewhere since no one would work on it and I didn't have the heart to just throw it in the trash. Since I've downsized since 2003, there's no telling which box it might be in.
