Great Grandfather's gates, Ireland

These two beautiful old gates remain on the plot where my great grandfather was born and raised near Lough Talt, County Sligo Ireland. After his parents died following the famine he eventually took his younger siblings and they emigrated to America in 1864 ending up in Wheeling, WV. Distant relatives who inherited and still own the land say these gates have been on the property "forever". The gate in the stone wall lies at the end of a still visible 300 yard footpath leading from the old family cottage, across a wide meadow and ending in the court yard wall of his local parish church where he was baptized. This gate was designed to allow people to easily cross over the wall but prevent the sheep from doing so. If anyone would like to show me how these can be "post process improved" I would love to see examples. Thanks so much for looking.

I made an attempt with the first one. I only have Light Room 6 on this laptop so I could not do as much as I might. (desktop with the heavy duty PP apps is in the shop.

The main thing I did was reduce the highlights to try and reclaim the blown out water and sky. I reduced it to the max and then saved it and re imported and reduced it again. It might have looked better with the "dehaze", but that is in PS and LR CC2015, this is the LR 6 stand alone.

Of course more could be done if I had the full sized original and better yet if the original was in RAW.

Jerry, thanks for your time and effort. It certainly is an improvement.
