Obama is trying to destroy our nation ... despite what some here will say

Another poster started a topic asserting that Obama has saved our nation, citing some facts which are true and others which are only half true. Nevertheless, it's clear to any rational observer that he has changed our nation -- perhaps more fundamentally than any president since Lincoln.

Yes, the NYSE is doing much better than when he came into office. I'm not so sure that this is an indication that our nation has been saved, rather than a benefit to the 1%.

The unemployment rate is much better than when he came into office, but that seems a hollow victory at best when the average wage and household income are down and the participation rate in the labor market is down drastically.

That poster's observations on gun confiscation, repeal of Obamacare and the fact that Planned Parenthood continues a******ns are all true, but are they indications that Obama has saved our nation? I think not.

I think that the complete story of our labor statistics is a true indicator of our nation being saved, and that certainly falls short of "success".

His foreign policy is certainly a disaster from any point of view, whether it is containing Russia's adventures, holding a "red line" in Syria, understanding the complexities of our presence in Afghanistan or dealing with the security of our own borders.

He certainly has an ideology and vision regarding our nation's "original sin", but is carrying out specific policies in immigration and border control which can hardly be called "saving our nation".

Two of his biggest blunders will certainly haunt us for years - maybe forever.

The first, and probably largest, is in his failure to recognize the path of the world economy started with the Bretton Woods agreement in 1944. It basically set out the US as the world's benevolent policeman which in turn allowed much of the rest of the world to prosper by not having to spend a huge portion of its wealth on military defense (or offense). By abrogating our responsibilities in this area, the world is falling into fighting which will deprive millions of people of their opportunity to engage in commerce and feed their families. Look at the middle east and Europe to see this starting.

The second, and more subtle, of his failures is his habit (or intent) of surrounding himself with advisers who speak what he wants to hear rather than those who are expert in their fields of endeavor. How many members of his cabinet have any experience at anything except for academia or government? Very few. We are being led by an executive government which has been educated far beyond its capacity, but which has no ability to actually accomplish anything.

Hmmm. To analyze only one aspect of your point: Obama's Cabinet members only being academics and politicians:

Secretary of Interior: Sally Jewel, former CEO of REI.
Secretary of Commerce: Penny Pritzker, billionaire businesswoman.
Secretary of Energy: Yep - an academic - former professor of nuclear physics at MIT. He probably knows what he is talking about. Liberals would argue that he is biased towards nuclear energy. I don't think anyone really challenged this appointment.
Secretary of Education: Arne Duncan - former Administrator of the Chicago Public School District - yeah, no real world experience THERE!
Secretary of Homeland Security: Jeh Johnson - worked as U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of NY, had other significant WORK experience which prepared him for this task.
Secretary of State: John Kerry - a politician - but in this position, which is what - fourth in line to the president? - you need someone with vast government experience including work such as being chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee - Kerry is an ideal person for this job.
Secretary of Veteran's Affairs - Robert MacDonald - former CEO of Procter and Gamble. Obviously a lightweight...
Attorney General - Loretta Lynch, former U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of NY. WORK experience. Most Attorney Generals come from the ranks of US Attorneys - ones who have distinguished themselves for such things as going after organized crime.

I could go on. It seems to me that Obama, who is FAR more intelligent than the r****ts want to accept - has surrounded himself NOT with political appointees but with people who are incredibly talented, smart, and experienced, and who are outstanding in their fields. Many are Republicans. Rather this than have a moron president surrounded by political appointees who is a puppet to a puppet-master who runs a secret government.

And obviously someone needs to spend less time watching FAUX-TV.

remember when you change the formula's for figuring unemployment to ARTIFICIALLY make the number in the 5% range Something is pretty fishy... Currently The us population is approximately 318 million Take the 94 million out of work and the numbers say closer to 29% unemployed... Yes many have given up and are taken out of the numbers but that doesn't change the pitiful situation this country is in...

Just my 2 cents worth

I'm not sure whether you are accusing me of being r****t, or just bringing in the race card on general principles. Similarly, I'm not at all sure what FAUX-TV has to do with Obama's failed policies.

If you're attempting the usual lib ad hominem comebacks, you should be more direct.

Your statement that the actual unemployment rate is 29%, based on the total population of the US ignores the part of the total population which is retired, which are children in school and under the age of employment, those in the military and are thus employed, and so forth. What is the composition of the 94 million you assert are out of work? Where did you get this figure?

Just another statistician deciding that all of the sudden the methods of calculations have been changed by the "administration" as well.

One could look at the Bureau of Labor Statistics categories to understand that they reflect several different "groupings" of the unemployed.

So, depending on what you wish to project, there is a "U-3 thru U-6" label with explicit definitions.

From year to year, categories should reflect numbers based on the same criteria if the same categories are compared.

Some are experts at using different category statistics depending upon current need to skewer comparisons.

everyone is a r****t, or maybe just everyone discriminates. It's one of those.

I find it telling that the original post had nothing to do with race, but sb chose to bring it into the conversation. That seems to happen frequently on this forum.

...it's not that simple, there are those that like b****s... on a basketball court, and like Jews, not the next-door ones, but the ones in Israel.

Personally I'm a mixture of so many races, I wouldn't know who to be r****t against.
