We had a pair of eagles build a nest and raise three young, for the first time in about a century, two fledged. In August a storm blew the tree over. I had captured of shot of one the young the day before. The next day I got my Tamaron 150 600, but had not been able to locate them again. On my way into town this morning I saw one back in the eagle tree and went back and got my camera. It is just about two miles and lucky me she was still there. I got several shots, some she was preening or just looking regal.
Good for you. Nice capture.
Do you think this is one of the original adults or just someone passing through? If one of the originals the other should be around as well.

According to the DNR they usually rebuild in the area. We have several local pits in the close proximity for fish as well as other wildlife. In the Indianapolis area we have all the interstates that intersect as well several reservoirs in a fifty to seventy mile area that have several nesting sites. I just hope the site is one that we can have photo ops to. The County had to put up no parking signs for this nesting site before the summer was over.
Had a place on a lake up toward Canada. All the years we were there, there were Bald Eagle nests in the same trees. Believe they brought their offspring back as well. They fished far better than I!

I was born and raised in central In. and never would have thought fifty years ago that the eagle would return. I will be eighty in Feb. and have seen a lot of wild life return. When I was a boy there were several hawks and owls in the area. Still do not see as many owls, but the hawks and even the buzzards have made a come back as well as the eagles.
The deer have made a large come back, to many in a lot of places. Bobcats coyotes as well.
Old Timer -- they never left Montana. I see many hawks every day, and eagles all the time. I posted some eagle shots from this morning.
We have three kinds of owls on the property. Spooky, I was walking down a cut into north canyon and a big owl flew very low over my head -- saw him as he passed, but never hear a thing.
Animals have even come back in mass around Chernobyl. Nature does well despite overpop.

I saw your post on the eagle tree. As some one who grew up on a farm and used to hunt hunt a lot I appreciate the wild life that has returned. We have more species of migratory bird that we did even twenty five years ago. Just give nature a chance, some habitat, food, and nesting sites and they will make the come back.
We have an eagle festival near here every year. From October until April we have up to 10,000 eagles wintering here. Incredible to see.

DrWilk -- Wow! After the tree shots, on the way west to work, a big one flew so close to my windshield that I had to brake. We have lots, but the most I have seen at one time is 4 mature Bald Eagles in the tree. Can't imagine them being like Canada Geese -- have seen that at Horicon(SP?) Marsh.
It's amazing to see. They winter on the Fraser river which has a huge salmon spawn so there's thousands of dead salmon lying around for them to feast on.

That's a lovely portrait. Excellent composition and placement of the branches.
Thanks for the good words, appreciated coming from some one that as you. I went to your web site and admired some of your work. The photo of the eagle was slightly tweaked but just with Canons soft ware. I used the curve adjustments a little. Mostly all I ever use is Canons DPP.

Thank you so much for looking at my work. I really appreciate that. I've never used Canon's software. Is it hard to use? I do get it with my cameras, but frankly never looked at it.
I found it easy as I shoot in RAW and download using their software. I do some adjustment on the ones I want to start working on and then tweak them if needed. It is not a photo shop, nor is it intended to be a total program. You can use presets if you like. I probably save less that ten percent of my shots unless I shooting and event or family or some thing that I want to record the occasion. Just take a look and from what you say you do I believe you might like it.
