I leave my camera gear home in the dust and pull out my smart phone when I want to. And all the other 20 or so family members are busy snapping away with their smart phones. From my six year old adorable Niece to good Ol' Grandma.
Never was the 'family photographer'. I have no idea what that is.
I quit taking family pictures because of the unrealistic expectations that go along with it. I would get home and in less than 2 hours the harrassment of wanting copies of everything before I even get the raw files downloaded. Then, no one really appreciates all of the efforts, its seems like an iphone snapshot means more than a good quality photo
My Dad was the "family photographer", and a good one. But even after all these years, I have to remember not to pull my "photograph face" when someone points a camera at me.

I hate the damned things, and don't own one Not so much for the constant annoyance of snap shot takers, but the fact that all those under the age of about 50 are addicted to them. My grandaughters are constantly glued to their I-phones. They even text themselves from accross the room. Kids today don't go out and play. they sit at home-getting fat- playing with computers and I-phones. They don't even teach cursive writing anymore. End of rant.

Welcome to today's world, kids today want everything fast and efficient. They do all their shopping online and have it delivered to their home so they don't have to get up and move. Text friends across the room and the text looks more like hieroglyphics than the English language. I hate to say it but parents today are raising a generation of lazy people but on the other hand... isn't that what electronics is supposed to do?
If they went out to 250 meters I would get one and put it in my semi and really mess with the texters around me.

No. They may be used that way, but it is not the sole purpose..., sadly they do frequently get used that way....

I haven't been the family photographer since my divorce was finalized.
It appears the government has again put themselves above the law. Try making a cell phone call around Washington DC.
Accualy the smaller ones have a range of only five meters. Well with in my property limits.
I think we will know this generation not by what they do but that they have no pictures of any events. Oh yes, on their smart phones, but when someone wants to show me pictures of their little darling on their phone, I have to get me glasses on and then wait for them to find them through all their nonsense stuff. Gone are the days when people pulled out actual hard copy pictures. and yes, I am the family photographer because I want the shot of everyone together and be able to hold it in my hand and look at it. I guess you got me started. Deb

Every one I know has a smart phone and about half do not know enough to set up the camera. They shoot away at the default settings and if the image is unsatisfactory it is the camera's fault.
