Speaking of film cameras

My first good camera was a Minolta 101 back in the late 60s. I still have it, and it still works. In all those years, I've only had one repair - on the light metering system. The dark room was the place I went in the evenings rather than to the movies. LOL I still have boxes and boxes of negatives that I don't want to part with -but I don't have a clue what's on them!

The camera has a Rokkor 55mm/1.7 lens. It's a REALLY good lens. Is there any way- an adapter perhaps - that I can use it on my Canon 40D?

If not, I wonder if there is still a market for the camera?

I just picked up a Minolta SRT 101 and an SRT 201 for $20 each on ebay, so there really is no market for most film cameras. You can pay a lot of money for the higher end film cameras, but most Canon, Nikon, Minolta and the like can be had for a song. There is a way of adapting your Rokkor lens to be used on a Canon. It's not cheap, but there are a few guys doing the conversion. Google is your friend.

I just checked out what's involved. Not so simple after all. Looks like I'll just hold onto it as a reflection of things past.

Ever since it came out I've always wanted a Nikon F4. Now that I can easily afford one, I probably would never use it.
I was very happy with the F100.
Identical image quality, noise and resolution as the F4, and no crop factor...

My first "Real" camera was a Minolta  I've used it faithfully until the past two years. I will keep it for memories until I croak/go tits-up/die. I have some prism filters fot it as well as some Micro/Macro/Gradient filters for it. I would also like to find out if there's an adapter ring for my filters. Cannot find anything. Like you, I will keep mine for the memories. I still use my old and outdated Minolta. Just for the memories. Great ones at that!! Hmm..Memories...isn't this the reason we take pix??? :?:
