i am using ps cs6 for windows, guess i should have been more specific...open a raw file, THEN click on file (top left corner, next to PS), scroll down towards the bottom, click on file info, then click on advanced tab (on the top towards the right)

i hope these instructions and photo help you locate the info.
i am surprised you say you find no pull down for file.

In PS CC, same file info, located under RAW DATA....

PROVIDED the camera does include shutter count in EXIF of course....:)

Aha! Got it now. Thanks to all.

Can't imagine why it is so hidden. You would think that it was a valuable piece of proprietary info instead of a simple user statistic. The inscrutable mind of the manufacturer...

There's supposed to be a way to use PS to find the shutter count, but you have to know how to find it.

I'm not certain if this is the exact video I watched a while back of not. There are a few out there if you search ;)

This relates to earlier versions of photoshop than are current, and can only show the data in the EXIF file. Canon does not not show shutter count in EXIF data. Also, this video refers to the file number data, which on Canon cameras usually resets at 9,999 and can be modified through sofware control.

For Canon, this video is not accurate. Of course it is on the internet, on YouTube, so it must be true....
