I've been handed aproject at work, considering I'm not a veteran I think I have gotten a good start on it.

I'm looking for organizations that put employers in contact with veterans looking for work. So far I have the following organizations I've reached out too, but I'm wondering if there are any I missed.

America Wants You
National Veterans Foundation
100,000 Jobs Mission
Hire Heroes USA
Vet Jobs
Hire Veterans
Monster Veteran Employment Center (military.com/veteran-jobs)
Fort Hood Military Career Expo (Job Fair)
Veteran Career Fair and Resource Expo hosted by Southeast College Career Center (Job Fair)

If you know of any others I should include, please let me know!

funny thing is about 10 minutes after I posted this I got a call from VA North Texas Health Care System. They were calling local businesses to discuss their job placement program. Great timing!

This list is going to our production plants, regional offices and we are even sending it out to our clients, so if anyone has any further ideas of how to get employers together with veterans looking for employment let me know.

Each State has a Department of Workforce Development. It may have another name in some states. This is the department that pays unemployment benefits. Each Department has a Veterans section that helps vets find jobs.

There's always the Texas Workforce Commission. Also you might check with the local recruiting offices to see if they know of any resources.

You could also contact the local military center (like National Guard) or something as they can also put you in touch with people who handle this.

I don't know what limitations you might have in the type of work the guys and gals might be doing, but you might consider the Disabled American Veterans organization, at least as a first step. They may be able to put you in contact with more 'directed' groups.

In addition, regardless of your politics, you might contact this woman, a wounded warrior herself. She is local for me, abut I am not in her Congressional District. http://www.va.gov/opa/bios/bio_duckworth.asp. I think you will find her very open to assisting you on this project.
