I did it and finally got my D7100, upgraded from my D7000. I have been playing around with it all this past weekend. Asking any of you who have had the D7100 for a while what you think of this camera? I wanted the D7200, but really didn't have the $$ to upgrade to that one yet....

I've had one for a couple of years and love it...didn't see a need to upgrade to a 7200 for my uses. It is an amazing camera that produces excellent images so it would take a major camera upgrade to get me to upgrade.

Have fun with your new gear! :-D

I have the 7000 and the 7100 and I am very pleased. The additional features the 7200's have was not enough for me to spend the extra dollars. If I feel that I need more, I will grab a D750 primarily for the ability to use higher ISO, particularly in early morning animal shots. I most likely will not purchase any more DX lenses, just in case!

For the past several months, I have used a lot of effort to make better use of the 7100 capabilities and I have a long ways to go! There are some great publications available and the internet has also been a great resource.

D7100 refurbs are a hard to beat value!

Good luck!

Be happy with your D7100. it is a fine camera and it did not become
more worse with an upcoming new model.

I had long time the D7100 and upgrade it to the D7200 beside my
D750.
The D7200 has A larger picture buffer and a little bit faster AF.
Noise behavior is nearly the same between D7100/7200.

If you do a scientific research you will see marginal differences but only
at higher ISO values.
In normal picture circumstances you will not identify the model
based on a picture.

What was my upgrade wish: nice to have :-)

Have fun with D7100!

I have had my D7100 about 15 months and am just barely scratching the surface of the things this camera can do.

Thanks everyone, I am finding that there is a lot to this new camera, and I am enjoying exploring the possibilities! I am also glad that everyone is saying that there is a marginal difference in the D7100 and the D7200.. I find there is a lot of information here on this forum, so I will continue to learn and post some of the pictures I have taken with it...I find photography so zen...

The D7100 is a significant upgrade from the D7000 but the difference between the D7200 and D7100 is not as significant (D7200 has a bigger buffer and is slightly better in low light plus has wifi incorportated (which can be added to D7100). I went for the D7100. In those few instances I want burst shots, I change from RAW to jpeg and I can fire away at will.

Exceptional camera. Is there anything specific you wish to know or are you just looking for a little hand-holding to appease your doubt?

I have found using the owner's manual plus Darrell Young's Book "Mastering the Nikon D7100" to be very helpful. I would suggest the paperback version with step by step screen prints for most settings. I am very happy with my D7100. I have the 18-140MM and also purchased the 50MM f1.8.

I too upgraded from 7000 to the 7100. Many say there isn't much difference but I'm amazed at how different it really is. I love it, and it will be a partner to my FF when I get one. I even sent it to Sigma to have a couple lens calibrated to that body (no charge for warranted lens) I rarely shoot the 7000 now, it's that different.

Have had mine for 2 years. Love it. I have no reason to upgrade yet. This is a great camera. Have fun. :D

For most applications the only thing you are missing by getting the 7100 vs 7200 is an emptier wallet. Have had a 7100 since it came out and have been more than happy with it. Best APS-C camera I have ever owned.
