You really know how to use that camera. Your shots are great. Quite the model you have there. Thanks. Most enjoyable.

Thanks. I just wish the back ground was better. Maybe shot at f2 or 4.

Thanks so much angela. We don't see these birds here but for a few months and then they are headed back your way or some where. The plant is an Aloe Vera, a big cash crop here in the Rio Grande Valley and it will be blooming again in May--maybe April.

You will love this camera and with the zoom, catch all kinds of birds!!! I'm not sure, but this looks like a gold finch to me, not an oriole, or at least not the orioles we have over here. Again, beautiful captures and have fun with your sx50!!!

Love the Oriole with beak stuck in the Aloe Vera bloom. All nice shots. We don't get any of the Orioles here, at least I've never seen one. Where was this one taken?

angela, I belive it is a Orchard Oriole. Also looks similar to the Baltimore Oriole.

Vern Denman, it is immoral and unethical to be so crass as to post these photos taken with a $150 refurbished camera. It will drive our out of focus brethren who have invested $5000 in camera, lenses and still end up with junk photos into deep depression. How sad!!!

I have had my SX50 for a month now... fantastic camera!! I am tempted to do a firmware hack:

Camera nut== This Oriole was taken at Heritage Village, a retirement community in McAllen Texas. 10 miles from Mexico. I understand that this Oriole breeds as far away as Canada and all along the east coast and middle USA and spends the winter in the tropics. I consider South Texas tropics. We lose them come spring except a few who linger, especially if they have food and water. With that, why not.
