I had the opportunity to use a Panasonic LZ 1000 on a road trip in late July through mid September. Left Seattle in smoke, and stayed in smoke to Billings just to get a UHH pin from Carter at the Cottage; and a Field Vest which was screaming at me from a hanger. And info that the smoke only would dissipate by getting into Colorado. As per usual, Carter's advice was dead on.
The captures are all hand held at ISO 125 from the highway (MT 212) looking at the Bear's Tooth, about 6 miles away by my map.
So much to do in the area, Colorado almost did not happen. But it did, which will be another entry.

Nice shots. If you can't go to the mtn. bring the mtn. to you.
And as usual....
If you look at last using digital zoom the quality goes the way of the dodos just like this thread will end in the gallery.

Handheld at > 300mm zoom at iso 125?! And motion reduction active? No tripod with long lens is considered a sin by some. Jus sayin'

Nice shots. You have proved you were up on the passage. That in itself is an amazing feat. We had a man in our group in Yellowstone who was terrified of having to navigate that routing by himself. His itinerary had him leaving Yellowstone and heading for Minneapolis, so the northeast entrance would be the most direct. He wrestled with that for several days and finally decided to leave through the east entrance and go out via Cody, WY. I hope you photographed the ascent and descent. GPS was very valuable for shots in the pass. The descent into Yellowstone with the afternoon sun was spectacular! Disney could not compete.
