UV Filters? Yes, We WEre All Right

DigitalRevTV did a test of UV filter vs no UV filter. We were all right! They provide good protection for the lens but do not help - and might hurt - image quality.

He did a good job of demonstrating the use UV filters. This is a good thread to refer people to as this question appears frequently.

I'm glad we were all correct because I have a UV filter on all my Canon lenses.

Thanks, Jerry - I love anything that Kai does! He makes any subject entertaining, kinda like the real world of photography. Any idea what the pink sleeve on his Nikon was for? Extra grip?

He was given the "assignment" to paint the D90 with the colors of DigitalRev. That would be pink, or as he kept correcting himself - magenta.

It was a funny episode, especially when he brought it to Nikon for repair and had to explain why it was pink.
