sometimes it works. sometimes it doesn't.
here's my issue.
i was taught that when i hover over a part of the picture when using curves i will see a little dot on the curves panel ...
i hovered in two different spots , got two different dots on the
graphs..so far so good. but when i click between the two dots the whole picture is changing not just the area i want it to change in...what am i not understanding? im pretty sure i have been able to just address that area i want changed....havent done it in a while so i may be wrong...
if i am wrong is there anyway i can just change 1 particular area in curves?
thank you

The dot represents the tonal value--light or dark--not the area of where you hovered.

Hope this helps.

Create a curves layer and then use the mask so that you can affect only the parts of the image you want changed. When making a selection, be sure to feather your selection so that it won't look fake.

Try when you open curves Or curves adjustment layer, Go to the upper right corner dialog box click on auto select targeted adjustment tool this will give you an eye dropper to click on the image. The + & - key will move which dot is active on the curve & the up down arrows will adjust the active dot. Hope this might help a little.

Make a selection around what you would like to change then go to curves adjustment layer make your changes if you need to cover anything get a soft brush go to the top lower the flow paint with black to cover the change.

so r u saying it will affect more than my selection? That's what happens ..When I've tried... was hoping for a way to just affect 1 area...

if you make your selection first then click the curves adjustment layer the only thing visible on the layer mask will be the selection then make your adjustments.
