My updated lightroom keeps closing. It isn't any one thing I do with it. Might ry to export a photo or just change from library to some other mode and it just closes

And there it is.

Any chance you can re-construct the older version from backup?

If not I suspect Adobe will release an update, but how long that will take is anybody guess. I am thinking Adobe didn't anticipate this widespread problem when they released the CC update.

Here is the answer to your question.

The version not to install is version 6.2/CC2015.2.

Already installed? You can get back to Lightroom 6.0/CC2015 or Lightroom 6.1/2015.1. Victoria Bampton, known as the Lightroom Queen, has a simple page of instructions at:

Stand alone is 6.2 I think. Will have to check it tomorrow/later today, whatever it is.
My problems are when in 'develope' mode and I haven't used the laptop in that mode, only library. I will try develope on it in the morning.

I guess this takes a bit of the shine off Adobes CC subscription model.

Hopefully the fixes will be in place soon and nobody loses any of their photographs.

6.2
Laura Shoe was on this immediately. She warned that the problems were really annoying and to stay at 6.1. She said the fix should be in 6.2.1 so it should be fixed quickly. I stayed away from the upgrade. So far, she hasn't been wrong.

The following is part of my introductory post:
<My processing is done mainly in Lightroom 5.7 and will continue to be so because I refuse to sign-up to Adobe's outrageous perpetual payment CC, money grabbing system. If stand alone Lightroom and Photoshop cease to be offered and supported by Adobe, in future I will look for alternatives which are out there.>
It would seem that my position has been ratified....in spades!

Appears to be affecting the Mac people that upgraded to el crapitan. Adobe is aware of it. Something you might try if you have a Mac is turn off the new add photo screen.

Tech bud of mine warned me not to update due to known issues with a number of different items ranging from slow speed, to freezing, to broken plug-in links, etc. I had already updated and I'm a MAC user. Fortunately I have yet to experience any of these problems so the issues are apparently not consistent and that's even more worrisome to Adobe! 😧

The scuttle is mostly mac. That said, you can bet your ass they are feverishly working on a fix(s). From playing with computer with tools for 30 years, they seem to be falling in a trap. They did a good job in going to 6 with a reasonably small set of problems. They had a strong beta test which usually includes outside users.

When you start to add new function in your service stream is where the shit can hit the fan. I suspect they either do not have a robust in-house test environment, or hurried to ship with running an abbreviated set of tests.

Anyway, They will scurry to fix the issues and I'll bet someone in management is asking, what did they do wrong. If they don't solve the generic problem, their reputation, and yes they do care, will be shoddy work and effect their bottom line.

It's like your favorite restaurant, once you get a bad meal, and even if they apologize and give you a gift certificate for a future meal, it's hard to go back.

Any opinions on the LR Creative Cloud update that came out a couple days ago?

Note: I'm not interested in opinions on the merits of the CC, I'm interested in knowing if anyone has tried the latest update and if so, what they think of it.

Thank you.

Yes I updated and so far have not had any issues. I am a PC user. However, I have only used it for an hour or so since the upgrade; will be testing it a lot in the next week and will post if I have any issues.

I had the same problem on my iMac. I signed out of Creative Cloud and then signed back in and opened Lightroom. It seems to have cured the problem. :D

I got the updates and now have problems, LR freezes, loads some images very slowly. Often becomes unresponsive and needs to be closed and reopened. Is it the upgrade or something else, I don't know.
I am also a bit put out by the changes in the controls and interface. Things have been changed and moved around to the point that I have to hunt to find how to do many things. Often basic things.
I am going to give it a while before I contact adobe to give them a few days to put out fixes on their own.

Thanks for the heads up Jerry. I just saw the update notice this morning and because of your findings, have NOT updated. I was especially turned off with the phrase "We have updated the import experience." I like it fine, just as is.

I did the upgrade - no issues noted. But, in Lightroom itself, there's only one new feature (haze removable is available on adjustment brushes), so it's not a very material upgrade.
