I just inherited a "Sun OPT" tele 85-210mm f 4.8 zoom lens. Anyone familiar with this lens? I have never heard of this brand. I used it yesterday on a6000 camera yesterday and it seems to do the job pretty well. The owner purchased it in the late 60s/early 70s for use on a Pentax camera. It also came with a 2x teleconverter which I have not tried out. Just curious.

I used to see the Spiratone Sun Optic lens ads all the time in the photo magazines. Nice to see they are still out there after all these years.

Thanks so much for the information about the lens. I appreciate the comments. I googled it but didn't find much. The information from the Pentax forum was especially good with pictures taken with the lens My results have been pretty consistent with their images.. Sorry I didn't get back to you before- I am on the road traveling from Salem Oregon to Arizona with a stop in Colorado.

Spiratone a good source for inexpensive photo gear back in the day. I bought several items from them for my Exakta VXIIa back in the early 60's. Was a good source for those of us with tiny budgets.

That makes sense. The previous owner was a serviceman and the military exchange probably stocked up on these lenses for that very reason- tiny budgets.
