I'm looking to buy a speedlite for my T2I. I do not have allot to spend and was hoping to get some ideas here. I'm new to photography and take photos for the enjoyment.

All the ex series speedlites will work on you camera . If you want to use off camera flash , this is a different ball of wax . What do you intend to use it for ?

I recommend the 430ex II or if you can the 580ex II.
Both of them can be used remotely using an ST2 wireless controller. The 580ex II can also be used as a master controller to control several speedlites for off camera lighting.

That's a tough one. Canon Speedlites such as the 430Ex, 580EX, and 600EX RT are not cheap. For a first flash I would recommend that you go with the brand of your camera so you get all the benefits of the latest technology. You can get previous models such as the420EX for around $100 used. The 270EX and 320EX offer too few features.

There are a few third party flashes out there that will work fine. Most of them will not be able to take advantage of all the E-TTLfeatures so you have to really read the ads carefully.

If you are looking for a flash that will be as close to automatic as possible, the Canon models are what you want. If you have a fair understanding of flashes and how to utilize manual settings, then a third party flash may be what you are looking for.

I have the 420EX, 550EX, and 580EX II models. Depending on what I am doing and how much weight I want to carry around dictates which flash units I take. The 580EX II is the model I use the most.

You can find a 550ex on craigslist for around $200. Very nice value for the money.

Be sure to buy a Canon branded flash for a Canon camera. (Nikon flash for Nikon as well). It tends to work better like that.

hi..

i have a bunch of the yongnuo yn560 and they work great. they were under $70 each. i also have a yn467, which is a ttll mode and it was very inexpensive.

i also have a couple of 580exII...and i use them with the 580's for off camera flash.

for starting out, i would look into the yn465 or yn565 yongnuo flash with ttl.
search those 2 numbers on amazon...that's where i bought mine.
