Using Doublers...

A couple of days ago, there was a discussion on using doublers and teleconverters which made me curious about doublers. When I ordered my Nikon D5500, I received a Digital Visions 2x telephoto lens that screws onto the front of a lens with a 52mm thread. I also received an Xit 0.43 "High definition AF Wide Angle Lens" (Macro) that also fits a 52mm thread. twowindsbear suggested I take some pictures.

The first two pics were with the macro lens screwed onto the front of my 35mm prime lens. Here's two pictures I took. The only processing I did was resizing so I could post them here. The distance between the lens and the subjects was only a matter of approximately 3-4" (guessing).

The third pic was taken of a scene with the 35mm lens alone. The forth one was with the telephoto screwed on. (I didn't realize I had the end of the lens in the sun.) Both pics were focused on the old travel trailer.

I sure would appreciate all feedback. (Didn't take the pictures with composition in mind, just on what the lenses would do.)

I hate to say it CathyAnn, but those add-on lenses are not worth messing with.
If you want to do true macro, get a real macro lens or extension tubes.
And by the looks of the shot with the telephoto add-on, it is only focusing in center, degrading the image quite a bit.
You are only wasting your time with those add-on lenses. The only place they should go is the trash can.
You wanted feedback and I am just giving you my honest opinion.

Twowindsbear, I did take pictures of the boxes that the lenses came in. A good picture of the macro lens is on the box cover. The telephoto lens looks about the same.

I'm sure glad you mentioned taking pics of the lenses, because I decided I just needed to try them to see what they were like. I had been shuffling them around wondering who the "lucky" person is that I could give them to! LOL! However, I just don't feel right giving them to some poor unsuspecting person.

BTW, I don't know where they get the "@#$&&$" to put "Auto Focus" on the box. The only AF is on the lens!

"Macro" lens box

I am interested in macro photography. I will go to the macro-photography forum. I need to get a good lens for it though. I'll read through the FAQ's and forum, and will no doubt participate because I know I'll have questions.

Thanks!

Thanks for posting these pix. I'll call them 'gadgets' and not very useful, as others have said.

You'll get lots of good info in the macro forum.

Good luck
