Theatrical fog and artificial smoke sports pictures

I have the opportunity to take some football pictures using theatrical fog. Either the player will be walking into or out of the fog, a group picture with fog around their feet. These will be taken outdoors in the evening. Cameras are Canon 5D III and a D60. The available lens are 75-200mm 2.8, 24-70mm 2.8, and a prime 85mm, 1.4. I also shoot in manual. I can use all the advice you can give me. I googled it and not having much luck.

The lighting is exactly the same as a normal capture: Natural light + fill flash(es)

I do not see the difficulty.

Hopefully it will not be windy and you have some sort of light source to light the seen.

If you can gain access to a fog machine before the actual shoot, practice with it to gain some experience shooting with theatrical fog.

Without having any experience in this area, it seems some backlighting of the fog would be desirable.

I wonder why you were 'chosen' to take on this assignment, when you appear to have no experience of the task in hand. Have you questioned the 'organisers'? I've never done it myself outdoors, indoors yes.

Pablo8 - You need to rethink your comment. How did you learn new techniques in photography? Maybe you know everything about taking great photos, I do not. I set up this opportunity. I wanted to learn how to take these pictures. I am not taking a dime for this. It is a learning opportunity that I set up. How did you learn?. I learn by doing, I learn by trial and error. I take it you do not like new challenges.
