I admit that I treat my cameras very gently because I know that they are full of delicate electronics, and if any of those components gets messup, there goes my investment.

Take a look at these videos showing modern DSLRs being abused. If you haven't seen this guy before, you should look for him on youtube. He's from Hong Kong, gives good reviews/advice, and is rather funny.

Kai and Loc are a crack up.

I've seen him accidentally drop (and break) a hugely expensive L lens.

it's amazing what these cameras can take and still created good clear images.

And then took nice photos. Remember, one was an old Nikon D70, and the other an old Canon, neither professional grade.

Any sane photographer takes as much care of his cameras as he can, because they are, after all, the tools of his trade. But equally, they are tools to be used, so from time to time they will get used hard and may take bangs and knocks. Hard use is NOT the same as deliberate, pseudo-macho abuse, let alone making FaceTube jokes, with a camera you're not going to have to rely on next day.

Cheers,

R.

I seldom break anything. I spent decades in a test lab environment where the clumsy were promoted. Sounds weird, but true. Real lab rats are careful and like the work. I did. We shot a lot of micro-photography with production samples.

Once I thought, maybe I should change careers. I went to the local college and took aptitude tests. The tests showed, I was a true lab rat. No need to change career.

Even in retirement, I am constantly building a better home test lab.

Tinker, tinker...

I feel better about my Canon falling off the hood of my truck yesterday. Yes, it still works great.
