I'm a disabled astronomer since 1975 , after 40+ yrs. I'm not scared to image. This Dec. my family in the North is getting me a used canon t 3 i rebel so I can image my birds and I'm going to attempted some dso's , it won't be modified. I'll leave the IR filter in it so I can image my birds. Any comments on this camera for astro imaging, besides BYEOS and a bulb control cable?
I don't have that camera as I shoot Sony. I have one modified for IR and it can make a big difference for DSO as it can pick up the 656nm hydrogen alpha light without any attenuation.
It I could have any camera I wanted, it would have to be the Sony A7S, the low light monster for the camera world. The new A7Sii has been announced and should start shipping in a week. Maybe the used prices on the A7S will come down.
I use a $15 remote shutter release I got from eBay. I works great and can be programmed for long exposures and multiple shots.
