I seem to always post pictures of birds. I thought I would try something different. Here are a few color shots from a trip up the Blue Ridge Parkway from Cherokee, NC to Southern Virginia. It had been more than 40 years since we had traveled the route. Quite relaxing although the weather did not leave as many opportunities for photography as I would have liked.

A great part of the country. I guess the rain cleared the air for better pix. These are very nice. Thanks for bringing back my own memories.

It was definitely and off and on deal ...but even without the rain, the haze lived up to the "blue ridge" or "smoky mountain" label.

I lived in Brevard, NC near Pisgah National Forest for 13 years. I cannot believe that I left this for Rhode Island. Oh well, the cost of being a grandparent

I lived in Ashville for 6 years, that is why I say God's country.

So I have lived more than half my years in Alaska ...and I have very few landscape shots to show for it. Working 14 hours a day doesn't leave much time and when it is your own back yard, you tend to forget how beautiful it really can be. Now that I am in Georgia I intend to explore, see and record as much as I can! We left Alaska for here because we have only one grandchild and his parents refused to move back from Kennesaw, GA ...such is life.

It is beautiful, no doubt about it ...but we would argue that Alaska is God's country.

Thank you Angler. Pretty country but much different than we are accustomed to seeing.
