What software are you using to print on CD/DVDs? I've tried Nero and can't make much sense out of it as I cannot bring up a clean unformatted disc image. I am forced to choose among pre-formatted layouts. Same with Canon's "My Picture Garden". Also, can't seem to edit the pics on disk to fit.

Do you have any favorites that I might like that have greater flexibility?

I have a Epson printer capable of printing on disks. The software that cane with it is just called Print CD. It works great. Very easy to use and you can import your own artwork or use the stock layouts. I don't know if it is available for other printers or not. I'm using with Epson Stylus Photo R2880. Hope this helps.

SureThing Disc Labeler Deluxe Gold. I've been using it for years, and it's very flexible.

For best results, pictures for discs must be square.

I understand that, but I am not able to resize the images small enough to fit on the disc. The function allows for increasing the size but not reducing it.

I suppose I am comparing this to what could be done with the old Lightscribe software where you could edit images and text easily. Since the print to disc is newer technology, I expected it to be more featured. Having said all this, I have only tried freebie software so far. Before I purchase software I want to be certain it will do what I want it to do. Many times I have found that advertised features are not completely explained.

I had that problem before but traced the problem to using a pre-used R cd, not the RW cd I thought I had. (Just a thought.)

After switching to Windows 10 from 7, I had to reload all my third party programs for them to work properly. (Just another thought. )

The SureThing program has two ways of getting an image onto a disc. I can select "Image," and that lets me resize something to put anywhere on the disc. If I select "Background," it automatically fills the entire disc with the image. I can put text or other images over that.

There is an old Canon app called CD label print which may still be available from the Canon Europe download site, Canon Easy-PhotoPrint EX or Canon Print Studio Pro also support disc printing. I create the image I want using photoshop or paintshop pro first, including text, then use one of the Canon print tools to send it to the printer.

Seems pretty straight forward, resizes easily and doesn't force templates on you in the way that my image garden does.

Good luck.

I have not even reached the "print" stage yet. Still trying to work out design features that appear to be hidden in a maze. 8-)

You can get the CD-labelprint software here: http://cd-labelprint.updatestar.com/

It's very basic, but free and seems to work OK.

I believe most Epson printers come with that software

I took a chance and bought NCH Disc Label Print and managed to print 3 images and text at the bottom. Features are what I want. The only glitch is the print view looks good, but the print on the disc is not centered. Perhaps with a little fiddling I can find a disc alignment function.

Thanks to all for your posts.

the CD-print looks like it would be a good deal. I use to print onto a round CD label that would peel and stick onto the CD but it does make the CD thicker.

I used to do that also, but good technical advice said it is not recommended. I had a few CDs with peel & stick labels that would not load and a couple that got stuck inside the drive. Some drives apparently were/are more sensitive to design specs tolerances. The worst, I think, are the drives that do not have external trays for loading, such as is common with laptops.
