As some of you know I am a retired photo enthusiast born and bred during the film era. I have used a wide range of film, Polaroid and digital cameras. I am currently plagued with an equally large array of medical issues typical of most "seasoned" citizens. When I first read about the lunar eclipse and the so-called blood moon, I wanted to have a try at capturing an image. For the task, I pulled out an inexpensive, but solid and reliable Canon SX50HS, a MeFoto monopod and an Ober ball head. Having consulted various sources regarding how best to photograph the eclipse, I set the Canon on ISO 200, f/8 with a shutter speed of 1/160th sec. Here, for purposes of sharing only, is the result as edited in Lightroom v5.7. If you look close, you might observe a Starbucks and Donald Trump's hair on the right lower right...
Great shot! I went out there to see about getting some pics, but living in the Northern Rockies and in the Mountain Time time zone, the eclipse had already started. It was already dark enough that I couldn't get a good picture. Sigh...
Maybe tomorrow I'll get a good shot...

Thank you, Cathy. And as Churchill said, "Never, never, never give up".
You might want to bring out colors in your moon...

Actually, Ron, that's pretty much how it looked over my small, rural town in the early evening. Perhaps the "red" eclipse hadn't yet begun when this was taken.
You should have used a fill flash. It would have taken some of the Yellow out. Just kidding, thanks for posting.

You're right, Bill, but I was out of Blue Dot flashbulbs. Thanks for the thanks.
