I found this dried up Crocosima leaf in the garden and thought it a good subject for a series. Also posted others as well. Please do not hesitate to comment.

Please, I am not sure what your message means. Please repost. Do you mean that the photos are worthy of a gallery showing?
If so I thank you very much for the compliment. Have never had any of my work in a public gallery. Have donated work to our local PBS station and that is the the only gallery accepting them to sell to earn money for the station.

If you feel you have improved on nature or made it more interesting and attractive then its worked for you.
Not for me I have to say. Looks like clumsy attempts at abstracts. Would hazard a guess original photo was not great. So you feed substandard in and get substandard out Im afraid.

Well It is obvious this type of art is not for everyone! thank you for your opinions.

I really don't want to be rude, but none of these Images impresses me. It looks like you took a program like PerfectPhoto Effects and simply tried each template on your original to see what would happen.

You might get an interesting effect with Topaz Glow.

I think the basic problem is that the original image isn't that interesting, as Billy already mentioned.

Actually there is nothing wrong when trying something new and posting. Often when I dislike something I have something else to say than 'boring' due to the numerous tried made.

In this case trying to present a dry/decaying leaf under various PP condition is not wrong. Remember this is the post-processing section not the C&C or worse the gallery.

Do I like it? No to all but #1.

PP surrealism, interpretation is not for all viewers that is all.

I am so glad that finally someone gave me an honest opinion of the experiments that I have done. This one you are right only #1 has any real merit. But I was seeing a closed eye and cheekbone of some long ago screen actress and a stray lock of her hair. So you see being an artist I have this distressing habit of seeing something there that others do not. I am very fond of color and twisting it up to see what comes up. Sometimes I succeed in producing something worthwhile. Therefore I posted a few of the worst of my experiments to see what feedback I would get. I don't usually do abstracts except when I am bored. I have plenty of flowers in my garden and insects and birds and turtles to keep me busy with realism. So thank you for your honest opinions and visit Closeup photography to see what I usually post. thanks to all.

Regret to have to inform you that taking a snap shot and applying a few filters does not elevate to the status of art or the snapper to status of artist.
Your creator gives very few the gift of the talent to be an artist. Picasso's Michelangelo's are born with natural skills honed with training.
If one does not possess the natural skills buying a camera does not suddenly provide them.
To call ones output art is very often self delusional one hand but quite amusing on the other.
What you actually did was photo manipulation and it turned out with poor results.
Its a million miles from art. By the way I also manipulate pixels but would not dream of giving myself the elevated title of artist or claim what I do is art!

my art has nothing to do with a camera. I am a sculptor and painter. I just play with the camera. I am new to any kind of "art" produced by post processing. I was under the impression that post processing was anything done to a photo to produce a different effect or to improve on a not so great photo. I will not get into any discussion of this. I have other more important things to do with my time. I was trying to let the subject drop in the former post. Thanks again for your crystal clear opinions.

Not to worry about the nay-sayers. They are all over UHH.

I am surprised by Billyspad thought. He has posted a few thing that were adequate but nothing that just justifies the attitude demonstrated here.

I do not criticize on content as I do not see the point. I might just start to make an exception calling a spade a spade.

I should just let this drop but I hate to leave anyone thinking that I have a chip on my shoulder. If I did I wouldn't bother to respond to your comment. I merely wished you to know that I did not appreciate being called not an artist when you know nothing about me except what you saw in this post. If you can't say something nice don't say anything at allÂ…..or just say I don't like it and not call names or point fingers so to speak. There are better ways of giving a critique than that used on this post. Sorry but you only made me shake my head and wonder if you had ever seen anything that I had posted before. I certainly cannot say anything about yours as I do not recognize your name. And if I had and I thought it not up to the standards as I saw them I would just pass over your post and leave it at that.
subject closed. Nice meeting you.

So you need to be called an artist? Anything less is an insult it seems. Is this an ego thing?
I always have a sift through peoples past posts before commenting which is why I recognise you as a good crafts person and no where near an artist.
I would jump and down with joy to be referred to as a good craftsman.
Re critique you post and say "please do not hesitate to comment" ? That invites positive and negative views about your work. Surely you as an "artist" would have recieved less than favorable reviews before? Its one of the things one has to overcome when fame and fortune beckon and the major galleries are constantly on the phone asking you to exhibit. Tough old life being an artist huh.
Sorry to tell you but you do get a gold badge, which is yours to keep, from the Camera Craft department. Some of your close up work is very good.
But no cigar from the Art Department Im afraid.
Maybe, just like me, your Creator did not see fit to bless you with the gifts that make an artist. Im sure He blessed you in many other ways.
And yes it can be nice to meet me once you get your head around the fact Billy is a BS free zone.
