Canon Zoom Lens EF 75-300mm 1:4-5.6 IS the on/off switch for the stabilized has an O and a l ... should be simple but I'm unsure which is on and which is off ... Thanks for your help ....
Typically, zero is off and 1 is on. (Taken from (binary) logic.)
It is the same as many power switches have.
As Longshadow said, binary:
0 nothing/neutral, off etc.
1 positive, on etc.
If the IS is working it should be quite easy to see which position settles things down when looking through the viewfinder at something small and distant when the lens is on 300mm.
FWIW on my several Canon lenses with IS all have ON and OFF not l and 0 and all are on with the switch in the forward position, (away from you when you shoot).
Thanks ... I knew I would get a clear answer here.

Several of them, because folk around here have this really bad habit of replying BEFORE reading the previous replies, thereby FAILING to determine if their reply is actually needed. ;)
There you go again... and other exhibit of arrogance and intolerance. What no "you should have bought a Sony" comment ??? ...
