I am a newbie at photography, have loved it all my life. I am learning on a point and shoot right now but will be investing in a DSLR or mirrorless in the very near future. Any advice on which way to go or what cameras are the best would be very helpful. Been researching on all of them but still confused...lol. Thanks for having me

Welcome aboard neighbor. Too many choices that you need to make based on your preferences, aspirations, finances, etc. before I can offer much advice.
I shoot Canon because that's where I started, but there are lots of really good folks doing some awesome stuff with Nikon, Sony....
Just across the mountain though, so feel free to PM if I can help.
Welcome to the family! You can find lots of advice and suggestions from prior topics (search function at top of page), but it won't make you any less confused - LOL.
Maybe decide on features that are most important to you (such as video or rotating LCD), price range - and most important, see how the camera fits in your hand for comfort and ease of access to settings.
Thanks guys, I think what I'm looking for most is to be able to set my aperture, shutter speed and ISO without having to search thru the menu for each item and a display on all three that lets me know...lol. I like to do landscapes and portraits alot. Not to much into video

The Canon T3i is a steal right now. Unless you are looking to jump to pro pretty fast it will keep you smiling for a very long time. Lots of features of the big boys without the price tag. Then when your budget allows just jump to some high end glass that will work with with your next body.

Welcome, for advice I'd say go to a good camera store and hold the candidates in your hands, a camera needs to feel right, I shoot a Canon T4i and A T1i, and a G15, don't see the point to a mirrorless, by the time you have the capabilities you have just as big of camera as a DSLR. here come the flames but my point of view, BOB.
