I'm excitied!! Just got on the list for the D800. I also discussed the relative sharpness of the Nikkor 70-200mm and 28-300mm with the Nikon expert. While the 28-300 is sharp and a nice walking around lens, the 70-200mm is super sharp. If you want sharp photos at weddings, and anywhere else, this would be the go to lens. While I have some other things on my list (flashes, etc.), this lens is on my list for doing portraiture and other photography

Thanks. I'm going to sell my D7000 to my second cousin. Her D3100 and other equipment was stolen last year. She's the official photographer of her son's league at Miracle Field, so this will come in very handy. I'll be very interested to see my results with the D800 and the 28-300mm which I have now. I doubt that I'll shoot much at 36 megapixels, but the full frame is too good to pass up.

I am jealolus. I had to decide between the Sigma 800mm F5.6 lens or the Nikon D800E body. The lens won out because I could GET it right away. The body will have to wait now.

MT...Why the 800E? My understanding is that moire occurs in nature...grass, strata in rock, and that the E is best suited for fashion photography. I'm looking forward to those 800mm shots.

Moire is the closely repeated patterns that really seldom present themselves in nature, and almost never in wildlife. The 800E is 10-30% sharper without the AA filtering from what I have read. Very little chance it would ever be an issue with what I shoot and I can always use more sharpness without having to add it in post.

I'm suppose to leave the kids money? I thought the plan was to leave them an amazing collection of cameras and L series lenses?

Congrats on the new camera, I can't wait to see the pictures you get with that bad boy.

One day last year I decided I would not look at the new stuff untill I found a situation that I didn't have the equipment to get the shot or my prints were not as good as others. I no longer have a list. - Dave
