Got my lens set up on my tripod for Sunday and took some test shots tonight for practice. Hoping for clear skies for me and all of you!

Hi Neighbor.
Nice set of shots. Mind if I ask what lens you're using?
It's going to be an interesting shoot on Sunday here in Albuquerque. By the time the moon clears the Sandias it should already be a nice brick red.
I hope the weather holds for us.

I used my manual focus Nikon 500mm f/4P lens with a TC-17 ii teleconverter on my D610. Shot in RAW at 1/200, f/5.6 and ISO 200. I converted it to monochrome and cropped the heck out of it. Sunday's eclipse starts at 8:11 our time from what I've heard. I am ready! Will practice more tonight.

With that lens what setting will you use when it gets darker ( red)? Nice set by the way.
Thanks Ron

Hi Ron welcome to the Forum. What I'll use with the T 150-600mm is 100 ISO, 1/200 sec, f/6.3.

Craig, thanks. Your settings look to be the same as when you shot a bright moon?

I will use similar settings, and I always bracket in Manual to make sure I get the correct exposure.

Thank you, my ancient lens does a great job, as long as it's mounted on my two ton tripod. ;-)

BA, Ha, Ha...
I think Mr. Lucas has nothing to fear from me.

You are posting some great photographs!
Have fun and enjoy the eclipse!

I'm going to try for a string of time lapse, and some close ups through the telescope. Still learning...
Last night I discovered camera controls in one program I like. Oh Brother!

Tonight's the last night for rehearsal. :XD: 8-)
