I've got Photoshop screwed up somehow. Was working fine and I must have did something and now when I try to use a brush all I get on the canvas is a + sign and no brush. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I think I did this once before but can't remember how I got it fixed. Thanks in advance.

You have not screwed up anything. Go under program option and reset the cursor. This is a feature, not a bug or a mistake, well maybe an user error but then again..

check your preferences to see what you have your brush cursor set for and if that looks good try to remember if you had your caps lock on at the time, if you had caps lock on while you were in photoshop then your brush cursor turns into a +.

Maybe it's your caps setting. That can mess some things up.

Make sure the brush size in not bigger than the screen ie the brush circle in not visible. Also make sure caps lock in not on.

Are you confusing the brush symbol with the plus sign? When you have a small diameter brush combined with a large image the brush tool can look like a plus sign although there is actually a small dot where the 2 lines intersect. Try increasing the brush size to 200-300 pixel and see if the plus sigh doesn't change to a circle or other symbol depending on what brush is selected. Also check to make sure the brush color is not set to the same color as the layer you are applying it to. The brush typically uses the foreground color in your toolbar. Try an off the wall color and see if the brush stroke appears.

Lots of good replies from UHHers, I am glad something worked.

When it happens again you can use that same something to fix it!

My PS CC did that suddenly and I didn't do anything to it. I got the feeling that it got changed during a background update while I was away from the computer. I shut it down and did some other stuff. When I came back and reopened it, the brushes returned. I never really understood what occurred but it hasn't happened again.
