AF Lense with F Teleconverter?

I have a Canon 70-200 L lens which works well with a 1.4x auto-focus ("AF") teleconverter. How would it work with a 2.0x "F" teleconverter. Would the lens itself still auto focus ... or not?

My initial thought would have to be, what is an "F" teleconverter? Canon makes "AF", yes they will work, and "FD", no they will not work.
If you actually meant the 2.0 AF tele conveter, then the answer depends on your lens and camera. The 70-200mm F2.8L will AF on any body. The 70-200mm F4L will only AF on a few specific bodies.

IF you have the 2.8 70-200, it will work well with either a Canon 2X or a Tamron SP/Kenko Pro 2X. I would NOT use any other 2X's.

Thank you. I have the 70-200 f/4L. I bought the Tamron extender non-auto focus on eBay, so I'll see, when it arrives, if it will work or not.
So my question is does a manual focus ext work with an auto-focus lens.

NO - if it is manual focus TC it is for the Canon FD series lenses ...

Your user's manual should tell you what works with what. Mine is under "Compatible Lenses," Canon's should be something similar.
