As far east as you can go

West Quoddy Head, Maine, is the easternmost point in the USA. I made the most of it by going all the way to the water's edge. The image is slightly cropped and has a few small adjustments made in PSE13. This is my first attempt at pp with a RAW image.

A lovely scene!

Did you use any of the adjustments in the raw editor (ACR)? What "minor" ones did you apply? I'm asking because the exposure looks like it could benefit from more adjustments to brightness, levels, contrast, as well as overall clarity. Remember raw = uncooked :) and the files need to be edited.

Per Dennis's OK via pm, I'm posting another version. #1 has adjustments using levels.

If you're not into layers yet, you can find levels under "enhance." The best part is you have separate control for shadows, midtones and highlights, up and down on any or all - a very nice tool.

Dennis, was there some mist in the air?

The second one below is my levels-adjusted version, then pulled into ACR for clarity upping. There are other ways to do that, but I just wanted to show an option.

Thanks so much for letting me play :)

I see the difference. There was a very heavy fog in the channel - thick as meringue on a lemon pie. I was glad to see that and wish I could have brought more into my composition. I'm a ways from playing with layers but I'll get there. Maybe I'll take a few shots that I think have potential and just keep reworking them to get a feel for all the adjustments. I do think some of the sliders are too sensitive.

You did a good job what came out of the camera is what you had to work with and that where it all starts. You needed very little PP because the shot was just about right on

Thanks, Lenny. I had high hopes when I took the shot and it was pretty good untouched and didn't take much in the way of processing. Linda did bring out more detail in the rocks and now I'm psyched to learn more.
