You have to lose the "s" from https, for it to work.

Precisely! I posted this on FB about a month ago...some people are so scared of it, they don't realize we're already there.

Some people just don't appreciate what they've got.

That's the point. If things were done for the common good, it would be. But there's no money in it for the rich kids.

I guess the Supreme Allied Commander thought that 60 some odd days to drive from one side of the country to the other was too long. So, it's safe to say that troop movement was on his mind.

Was building the interstate highway system an exercise in "Socialism"? I'm sure you'll get many opinions on that.

In the literal sense, a standing army is a form of socialism.

Perhaps, but it is capitalism that supplies the troops. Every weapon, every uniform, every meal, etc. returns a profit to the business owner, not the Gov't.

so you are telling me that Eisenhower's military-industrial complex was just a pipe dream.

right now, we have our richest capitalists influencing the government to start wars and then profiting off them... not really a free-market, no?

A free market is an ideal. So is a barbie doll. No one honestly expects either, do they?

As for companies profiting from war, didn't Coca-Cola do the same thing for the Vietnam war? It's not something new. I bet shipbuilders in ancient Rome and Greece looked fondly upon war.
