i went looking for a used or new sony alpha 850 or a- 900,few and far between.the ones i did find seemed more expensive than they were 2 yrs ago.

Both cameras are out of production clearing the channel for the new model.
Once the replacement is out I'd expect some 850/900s to come up on the secondhand market. In the meantime, owners are hanging on to what they have.

Rumor is that Sony will be introducing a new full frame camera, god only knows when. They did state that they will not make another typical mirror/pentaprism camera the next full frame camera is expected to use an electronic view finder. I look forward to seeing what they come out with. In the mean time I'm happy with my A900.
