Some folks over in the "Critique Section" liked the original (http://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-338303-1.html#5678747), but felt it was too warm and fuzzy for the subject. So, taking to heart some of the advice I received, may I present this for your consideration ...

the two bright lights are distracting.
bright spots draws the viewers eye away from the subject.
other than that, I like it.

I think it's not just the bright lights - the subjects have gone a bit dark too. Perhaps if you brightened them a bit, especially the faces, attention would stay on them.

Another thought - it's not the softness of the light that was the problem in your first post and I don't think softer light would be a problem here. As it is here, it's a bit harsh. But it's definitely moving in an interesting direction IMHO.

I do like this rendition, I do hope they are "blues" singers.

What really stood out for me are the two dark spots by the chin and hair of the lady on the viewers right. If they were lightened up a little to separate them from the lady's face, the photo would be even better.

Agree that the light on left is distracting, but the light on the right draws our attention to the two gals who are interacting. The brightness of the light on right accents the two dark girls below. The other two gals - left - are just there as stage props.

Now remember, the original is a daytime shot, with those windows right behind the girls creating natural rim lighting, especially the girl on left's arm, shoulder and hair.

I do need a light source of some kind.

I think the whiteness of the lights can be changed to a bright shade of the blue used in the photo. It would tone down the distraction and still allow a source of light.

This photo has amazing gradients of shades of blue throughout the photo. I love that aspect.
